Clinton vs. Huckabee, Round 1

In the next couple of weeks I will be highlighting some of the arguments of beliefs of Clinton and Huckabee. If you are a true conservative, you should know that Huckabee is the only one who could possibly debate and beat Clinton. Everyone else on the Republican ticket has liberal tendencies of some sort and Huckabee is clearly the most conservative and better speaking out of the group.

War on Terror/Iraq

Hillary Clinton

This may be one of the most controversial issues facing her in this race, she at one time voted for the war and funding it long after she was against it. There is only so much people will believe when it comes to her being hoodwinked by President Bush in voting for the war. The fact is she voted for it, now she is against it. There is one thing to be against the war now, but to purposely attack a man with more honor than she would ever have (General Petraus) is inexcusable. Her plan is to not only NOT bring the entire military home but, to leave them in the region for future conflicts. Why get our of Iraq and then bomb them from time to time when they don’t comply? Off of her own website “Hillary opposes permanent bases in Iraq. She believes we may need a vastly reduced residual force to train Iraqi troops, provide logistical support, and conduct counterterrorism operations. But that is not a permanent force, and she has been clear that she does not plan a permanent occupation.”

Mike Huckabee

Huckabee is focused on winning the war. He can with some patience from the American people. He doesn’t support permanent bases or a permanent fixture in the Middle East to perform bombings and counter terrorism missions; he feels if you do the job right the first time you shouldn’t have to go back later. From his own website Huckabee says, “ I am focused on winning. Withdrawal would have serious strategic consequences for us and horrific humanitarian consequences for the Iraqis. If we leave, Iraq's neighbors on all sides will face a refugee crisis and be drawn into the war: Iran to protect the Shiites; Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan to protect the Sunnis; and Turkey to protect its control over its own Kurd population. Iraq is a crossroads where Arab meets Persian and Kurd, Sunni meets Shiite and so if it's not a peaceful buffer, it can easily become a tinderbox for the region. When we deposed Saddam, we emphasized Iraq's central location as a prime place to establish democracy and have it spread. That was the potential dramatic upside. Now we're faced with the potential dramatic downside that the terrorists are fighting to take advantage of: Iraq's central location as a prime place to create chaos and have it spread.”

Why would we leave in defeat and only come back when the problems arise again? Do it right the first time, which is the conservative and American way.

O Brother where art thou?

The skipping of the PBS debate on September 27, 2007 of some of the candidates of the Republican Party was unacceptable and disgusting. Minority voters, that mostly vote democrat, should be as important to the Republicans as white K-street business owners. I found it a slap in the face to the people in that audience and all minorities across the nation for them not to be there. Well, these were the very same people that missed that Value Voters debate previously in the month also.

See, this is why we need change in the Republican Party. Mike Huckabee was a governor of a very democratic state and won 48% of the black vote in his election bids. We need a president to reach down and pick up a man, woman or child of all facets of life and wealth and the so-called “front-runners” are not those leaders. Mitt Romney is a millionaire who wants you to believe he is a real conservative especially after his “transfiguration” into pro-life just a couple years prior (John Kerry anyone?). Rudy Giuliani is running as a conservative, by name only, for having the most conservative ran city in New York in over 50 years…. not hard to do in a city melting in liberalism, just lower one tax to get that accomplished. Oh, and if I have to hear ONE more story about him running the city after 9-11 I will throw up-we get it MAYOR! John McCain, whom I have great respect for, should have been there. I think his message needs to be heard by minorities, because he apparently never talks to them.

But, I am sure all the republicans there last night will be labeled liberals for having gone. Even PBS.org labeled Huckabee as a “social conservative and a fiscal liberal”, I guess the Giuliani-bots are hard at work behind a keyboard. After cutting taxes over 90 times and leaving a surplus of millions in revenue he wanted his predecessor to give back to the citizens as another tax break, if Huckabee’s record doesn’t speak for true conservatism I don’t know what does.
Again, I ask for us to rise up and meet the challenge of gaining support for Huckabee and allowing him the time to allow his message to resonate among all people here in this nation. It may not take long for Brownback to concede and there are many conservative value voters that we as Huckabee voters can gain if we work and fight the good fight.

Suprise Post on mikehuckabee.com from Newt Gingrich

How You Can Help Achieve “Real Change”

I’d like to thank Governor Huckabee for having me here as a guest today. Over the past few months I’ve been very impressed with the Governor’s openness to new ideas and solutions for improving our country. He showed genuine leadership a few weeks ago by being the first candidate to sign the Nine Nineties in Nine debate pledge. By committing to a much more in-depth, solution-oriented political dialogue in our country, Governor Huckabee showed that he’s truly interested in real change.

But it’s not just candidates for President that have the ability to bring about real change. Real Change is powered by citizen movements and you have the opportunity to take part. More on that below, but let’s focus first on that phrase – real change. In Washington, we hear a lot of talk about change but too often we see too few results. That’s because even as elections are won and lost by different candidates of different parties, the underlying idea framework and lexicon of our politics and government changes at a much slower pace. Control over Congress and the White House may change parties, leading to new laws and programs influenced by different governing philosophies, but it is still the same cadre of permanent government officials and Washington lobbyists controlling the machinery of government. The result is that even if the American people vote for real change, we end up with change at the margins. However, there are moments in American history when real change has been imposed on Washington by the American people. The Jeffersonians and the Teddy Roosevelt progressives represented real change. So did the Reagan revolution. Recently, using the Contract with America, House Republicans were able to ride a wave of grassroots energy into Washington to achieve real change, including: a balanced budget while cutting taxes; welfare reform; term-limiting committee chairs, and more.

However, we too quickly reverted to Washington business-as-usual. Instead of moving forward by replacing the New Deal-Great Society, bureaucratic welfare state with a conservative, free market oriented model of government, our party became content with presiding over a government apparatus created by liberals. It settled for the illusion of being in charge because it was easier than inventing the future. It’s now become clear. To truly achieve real change, America needs more than another election; we need another wave of invention. We need a movement that will reach across all 513,000 elected officials in America – Republicans and Democrats – to radically transform the failing bureaucratic welfare state into a government that works for the American people. And we need the energy, enthusiasm, and creativity of the American people to sustain it that movement. That’s where you come in.

I am inviting you to be a founding member of this movement. American Solutions for Winning the Future is a unique, non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering the American people to develop and sustain this movement for real change. As Chairman of American Solutions, I am asking you to join me on the evening of September 27th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. ET when we will kick off the inaugural Solutions Day live from the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, Georgia, broadcast on DirecTV (channel 577), the Dish Satellite Network (channel 219), and on www.AmericanSolutions.com. (Don’t worry, that leaves enough time to watch Gov. Huckabee participate in the All American Presidential Forum on PBS at 9:00 p.m. ET). Then on September 29th, you can join your fellow citizens at sites across the country for free online workshops, including one by Gov. Huckabee designed to tap into the energy and creativity of the American people. Together, we will begin to develop solutions for every level of government for the most pressing challenges facing the country. Sign up for Solutions Day here. Workshop topics include: controlling the border; the flat tax; the fair tax; developing a free-market approach to protecting the environment; using metrics to improve government performance; innovative ways to breathe life into our nation’s space program; and more. Workshop presenters include Dick Armey, Dr. Elaine Kamarck (who led President Clinton’s task force on reinventing government), and Dr. Dennis Smith (the foremost expert on how Mayor Giuliani dramatically lowered crime in NYC). And, yes, Governor Mike Huckabee will lead a workshop on music and wellness education in our schools. Get the full list of topics, presenters, and schedule here. The campaign season is really heating up and the supporters of different candidates are starting to shift into high gear. I know what I’m describing sounds pretty different than what we’re used to in politics. But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? After all, real change requires real change and real change requires real solutions. I hope you join me, Governor Huckabee, and thousands of your fellow citizens as we kick off this movement for real change in America. Join us for Solutions Day on September 27th and then on September 29th.

True Conservatives?

Oh the times have changed...

We are in the days in which if a Democrat is "pro-life" he is labled a conservative. What is wrong with this picture? Why is it that we as true conservatives let liberals place us on the lists among conservative democrats. I blame us first and foremost for not fighting for our place on the national stage.

Why is Mike Huckabee, a true conservative presidential candidate, not placing among the favorite among conservative voters? "Conservative" talk show hosts, like Sean Hannity and Michael Savage, have sided themselves with Rudy Giuliani and Ron Paul respectfully and at the same time playing the conservative card.

I as a conservative ask that we back our last chance to take back the White House with a candidate that could rally our base back to the forefront of politics.

I guess this is a challenge to any conservative republican that may read this. Food for you thought if you may.

God Bless
